Types Of Hearing Aids | Invisible, In-Ear, Behind-the-Ear

Our COVID procedures remain unchanged.

Since the pandemic started, we have all been expected to wear masks in public spaces as part of the government regulations. As a result of the vaccination roll-out, the Government made the requirement for wearing face masks in public optional from 19th July.

Our priority has always been to ensure we take measures to protect our clients and staff. We have provided more than 10,000 masks since we re-opened and gallons of hand sanitisers in our effort to provide a COVID secure environment.

To date, we have not yet had updated information from our governing bodies or the Government. Our procedures remain the same but we will provide a further update should anything change.

What types of Hearing Aid are available?

The types of hearing aids can be overwhelming. Hearing aids come in many different shapes and styles with different technology levels. It is good to bear in mind that all these different technology levels, shapes and styles are designed for certain hearing losses and hearing abilities. As such some of these may not be the most suitable solution for your needs. Here is a brief overview of different styles of hearing aid.

These are the smallest hearing aids that are worn very deep in the ear canal. Barely visible to anyone.

This is a name of style of hearing aid which includes all the styles that are made to fit in differing areas of your ear canal, from quite deep (not as deep as invisible aids), to ones that can fill the whole concha, that is the ear bowl before the opening of your ear canal.

This group of styles are separated into 2 different types: 1. The traditional hearing aid that is worn behind the ear with a hollow tube that leads to a mould which sits in your ear. 2. A new technology that means the hearing aid is a lot smaller and has a very thin wire (encased in a very thin tube) that leads to a speaker that sits in you ear. These are by far the most robust and reliable hearing aids and when fitted correctly can be almost invisible. Within each of these groups of hearing aids, there are many different functions available.
