Five unusual Christmas gift ideas from angli-EAR Hearing! - angli-EAR hearing

Our COVID procedures remain unchanged.

Since the pandemic started, we have all been expected to wear masks in public spaces as part of the government regulations. As a result of the vaccination roll-out, the Government made the requirement for wearing face masks in public optional from 19th July.

Our priority has always been to ensure we take measures to protect our clients and staff. We have provided more than 10,000 masks since we re-opened and gallons of hand sanitisers in our effort to provide a COVID secure environment.

To date, we have not yet had updated information from our governing bodies or the Government. Our procedures remain the same but we will provide a further update should anything change.

Five unusual Christmas gift ideas from angli-EAR Hearing!

Are you looking for a practical present that will enhance the hearing of a friend or member your family?

Here’s five great Christmas present ideas from angli-EAR Hearing!

1. The gift of upgrading to Smart hearing devices.

Do you know someone whose hearing aid isn’t working as well as it used to? Or maybe they would appreciate the functionality of modern hearing aids with Bluetooth® enabled techonology that make phone calls easier for everyone.

Whilst a new hearing aid may be tiny in size, its impact for the wearer and the people around them is life changing.

The first step to better hearing is a full diagnostic assessment so that we can recommend the correct prescription. During the month of December we are offering a voucher for a free diagnostic assessment for appointments booked before the 23rd December 2019.

2. Batteries really keep you going!

A non-rechargeable hearing aid’s batteries need to be changed every 2 – 14 days (depending on the battery size) so a year’s supply of batteries cost £60 (£30 per box).
Batteries come in 4 sizes: 10, 312, 13 and 675, so a quick check will ensure you pick the right size.

Dexterity can also be an issue with changing batteries, so have you considered treating someone to rechargeable hearing aids? These devices are reliable, with great battery life, and they possess advanced hearing technology.

3. Cleaning and maintenance kits

A hearing aid needs regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure optimum performance and longevity. A hearing aid wearer will have received a basic maintenance pack when they purchased the devices, but there are other consumables available that can be used as part of the cleaning routine and keep the aids working at their very best.

Domes and wax filters cost £10 each for a pack. A pack of each should be enough for a year’s worth of cleaning. As with batteries, domes and wax filters are available in different sizes for different hearing instruments. If your relative isn’t a client of angli-EAR Hearing please speak to us or bring a sample of their current domes or filters so we ensure we supply you with the correct products.

How about a hearing aid drier?

Yes really! These remove the moisture that builds up in hearing aids. A UV lamp also kills any germs ensuring a more hygienic device.
A drying box from angli-EAR Hearing costs £125 and is a great gift for a hearing aid user.

4. Accessories to make life easier!

Imagine making smart hearing aids smarter!

A smart mobile phone is a really great accessory. Most hearing aids have an app which allows the user to control the hearing aid volume and change the programs directly from their smartphone. Some hearing instruments allow the mobile phone to stream music and calls directly to the hearing aids so that they perform a function similar to wireless headphones. This means the user can hear music, listen to audio books and make phone calls direct from a mobile phone.

A remote control is an alternative to a mobile phone for controlling the hearing aid’s volume and functionality. It works just like a TV remote control, except that it adjusts the program and volume of the hearing aid.

A TV box is an accessory which connects the TV directly to the hearing aid to improve the experience. This allows the wearer to listen to the TV at a volume that works for them whilst everyone else can listen to the TV at their own volume. It also works when the TV is muted.

5. It’s not all about hearing aids…

Accessories for non-hearing aid users are a great Christmas present for the active person in your life.
How about wireless headphones which are designed for running, cycling and swimming? AfterShokz are a great choice for the active gadget lover in your life. These cutting-edge headphones come in different colours, each with different functionality but, most importantly, they are approved by UK Athletics for use in official races.

For live performance fans, how about custom ear plugs which allow the great sounds in – but at a comfortable level to ensure hearing is protected without ruining the fun?

Or, for gun sports folk, how about shooting plugs? Again, the technology blocks out the sound of the gun/rifle but allows other noises in as normal. If you have a friend or relative who already has shooting plugs, then maybe consider the gift of new batteries?

Did you know that your ears continue to grow throughout your life, so if your shooting plugs are more than 3 years old it may be time for new set that fit better in your ears!
