Hello, friends! Teddy here, and boy, do I have a lot of exciting news to share about Christmas time at angli-EAR Hearing!
Christmas is one of my favourite times of year (probably because I get a few extra treats) and a time to reflect on all the wonderful things I hear around me. I’m here with my little brother, Buddy, who’s still learning the ropes, but he’s quickly becoming quite the angli-EAR ambassador himself.
So, come along with us as we share some tips for making sure you hear all the joys this Christmas season!
Buddy and I are big helpers around the clinic, especially when it’s time to decorate! As usual in the clinic at this time of year, there is extra sparkle and even a few Christmassy snacks (I’ve been told they’re just for oomans, though). I watch all the lovely clients who come in, ready to make the most of the festivities. But before they start shopping and celebrating, they get their hearing tested.
If they’ve not bought their hearing aids from angli-EAR Hearing, they come in to get their hearing aids reprogrammed through our Hearing Aid Challenge, so they can hear every little Christmas sound, from carol singers on the corner to the laughter of family gatherings.
If you’re planning on a hearing check-up or bringing in hearing aids bought from elsewhere for our Hearing Aid Challenge, book early! Just like our treat jar, the appointment schedule fills up quickly this time of year.
Don’t Miss a Single “Jingle” this Christmas!
Christmas has its own collection of sounds, doesn’t it? Buddy and I love hearing the cheerful sounds at this time of year —my favourite is the jingling of my festive collar bells as I run around saying “hello” to everyone at the clinic.
But I know that not everyone hears these things as clearly as they’d like to. If you’ve been noticing some Christmas sounds going a little “quiet,” Buddy and I think it’s a great time to get your hearing checked!
Hearing every little detail—the crackle of the fireplace, the rustle of wrapping paper (or the cheese packet, my favourite Christmas sound), and the songs on the radio—all adds to the magic. That’s angli-EAR Hearing is here for, to make sure nobody misses out on these special moments.
Top Tips for Hearing-Friendly Christmas
Dogs have great hearing (selective, admittedly), so Buddy and I would like to share a few tips for keeping your Christmas comfortable and fun for everyone:
- Keep it at a comfortable volume: Sometimes, music, background clatter and chatter can get a little loud, even for dogs like us. If you’ve got sensitive ears (or a sensitive pup!), create a cosy, quiet space for everyone to relax in from time to time. It’s perfect for Buddy when things get a little noisy, and while modern hearing aids can filter out background noise, I know it can make a difference for people to get a bit of a break too if it gets too full on!
- Make the most of Christmas gatherings: Christmas is a time for family and friends, and it’s important that everyone can follow the conversation. Please don’t say “it doesn’t matter” if they don’t catch what you say, gently include them into the conversation. If someone in your family needs a little extra help hearing, encourage them to visit angli-EAR Hearing. We promise they’ll get a warm welcome, and our fantastic team will help them to enjoy every laugh and story on Christmas Day.
- Wear hearing aids around the house: Get your ears ready for all the chatter! Wearing hearing aids regularly in the run up to Christmas helps your brain get used to the festive sounds and translate them better, so you can enjoy every laugh and story on the big day.
- Check for wax: Did you know earwax can mess with your hearing and even your hearing aids? If your ears are full of wax, it can block sound and make your clever hearing technology less effective. My advice? Get your ears checked and the wax removed if needed. Trust me, you’ll hear the difference – and you’ll be wagging your tail with joy!
A Special Christmas Message from Buddy and Me
Buddy and I want to wish you all a wonderful and very Happy Christmas. And we’d like to remind you to look out for anyone in your life who might be missing out on the sounds of the season.
Sometimes, even I notice when a person has to ask “pardon?” a little too often or when they seem to get lost in the middle of conversations. I love Christmas and I want everyone to enjoy it as much as I do. That’s why Buddy and I say: bring them (or yourself!) along to angli-EAR Hearing so’s not to miss a thing. There’s still time to book a hearing check, and it might just be the best gift of the season!
Happy Christmas, everyone!
Love from Teddy and Buddy xx
