To mark National Apprenticeship Week, we’re proud to showcase Elle Cooney, one of our Hearing Care Assistants at angli-EAR Hearing, whose apprenticeship is helping her develop a rewarding career while making a meaningful difference to clients.
Elle was drawn to audiology because of the impact better hearing can have on everyday life.
“Hearing loss can be incredibly isolating,” she explains. “Seeing how much confidence and independence people regain really inspired me to pursue this path.”
Through her apprenticeship, Elle combines hands-on clinical experience with academic study at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU). In the clinic, she supports hearing assessments, prepares hearing aids, assists with fittings and follow-up appointments, and continues to build her knowledge of hearing technology and client communication.
One moment that particularly stood out involved a client who had struggled to hear for several weeks due to impacted ear wax.
“Once it was removed, they could hear again straight away. Seeing their emotional reaction reminded me exactly why I chose this career.”
With guidance from experienced colleagues and support from ARU, Elle has grown in confidence, progressing from observing appointments to actively contributing to positive client outcomes.
This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re proud to celebrate Elle’s journey and the vital role apprenticeships play in developing skilled, compassionate hearing professionals.
