We sat down with Elle to discuss her journey and expertise in wax removal and audiology:
Background and Inspiration
Elle’s journey into audiology and wax removal began in a rather unexpected place – a dental clinic. Having worked as a trainee dental nurse and receptionist at an NHS dentist, Elle found herself yearning for a more fulfilling career path. The challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic prompted her to seek a change, leading her to discover her passion for clinical care and audiology.
“I always loved the clinical aspect of dentistry,” Elle shares. “But I wanted to be more than just a bystander in patient care. I wanted to make a real difference in people’s lives.”
Driven by her desire to positively impact others, Elle embarked on a new journey in audiology and wax removal, where she could utilise her clinical skills to help individuals reclaim the joy of clear hearing.
Training and Qualifications
Equipped with determination and a thirst for knowledge, Elle pursued extensive training in wax removal and audiology. She obtained qualifications to perform wax removal using various techniques and equipment. Additionally, Elle holds a Hearing Care Assistant certificate, allowing her to conduct hearing screenings and tympanogram tests.
“My training took me to different locations for practical hands-on experience and in-depth studies,” Elle explains. “It was a rigorous process, but it prepared me to deliver exceptional care to our clients.”
Passion for Client Care
What Elle loves most about her role is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of her clients. Each day brings unique challenges and opportunities to help individuals regain their hearing clarity.
Elle advises individuals to watch out for symptoms such as muffled hearing, pressure, and increased tinnitus, which may indicate ear wax issues. Prompt attention to these signs can prevent further complications and restore hearing clarity.
“I thrive on the diversity of each client and their unique ear conditions,” Elle says. “Being able to restore someone’s hearing and witnessing their joy is incredibly rewarding.”
However, Elle often encounters misconceptions about ear wax removal, such as underestimating its impact on hearing and tinnitus. She emphasises the importance of timely intervention and proper care to prevent complications.
“I had a young adult come in with sudden hearing loss, thinking it was wax-related,” Elle recalls. “Fortunately, we caught it early and directed them to the appropriate care. It’s a reminder of the importance of prompt action.”
