Are you looking for some unusual Christmas gifts this year? Maybe we can help!
If a loved one already has hearing aids, then they already have the gift of hearing, but a practical gift can
make the daily routine even more convenient.
angli-EAR Hearing have compiled a list of ideas to suit all budgets.
1. The gift of an upgrade…
Do you know someone with a hearing aid that isn’t working as well as it used to, or maybe they
would appreciate the advanced technology functionality of newer hearing aids. Or, gadget lovers
may like health data tracking, integral heart rate sensor for tracking heart rate, steps, calories
burned, activity levels and distance functionalities. Some hearing aids are even waterproof.
Manual dexterity can also be an issue with changing batteries, so have you considered treating
someone to rechargeable hearing aids? They are reliable with great battery life, as well as advanced
Whilst a new hearing aid may be tiny in size, its impact for the wearer and the people around them
is huge. Life changing in fact.
The first step is a Full Diagnostic Assessment with us so that we can recommend the correct hearing
2. Batteries really keep you going
With a non-rechargeable hearing aid, batteries need to be changed every 2 – 14 days (depending on the
battery size) so a year’s supply of batteries cost £60 (£30 per box)
Batteries come in 4 sizes: 10, 312, 13 and 675 so a quick check with us will ensure you pick the right size.
3. Cleaning and maintenance
A hearing aid needs regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure peak performance. A hearing aid
wearer will have received a basic maintenance pack when they purchased the hearing aid, but there are
other consumables which are used as part of the cleaning routine and which keep the aids performing at
their very best.
Domes and wax filters cost from £12 each for a pack. A pack of each should be enough for a year’s cleaning.
As with batteries, domes and wax filters are different shapes and sizes for different hearing instruments.
If your loved one isn’t a client of angli-EAR Hearing please bring a sample of what they already use so
that we ensure we supply the correct products.
How about a hearing aid dryer? These nifty gadgets remove the moisture that builds up in a hearing aid.
A UV lamp also kills any germs for hygiene purposes.
A drying box from angli-EAR Hearing costs £120 and is a great gift for a hearing aid user.
4. Accessories to make life easier…..
Imagine making smart hearing aids even smarter!!!
Most hearing aids have an app which allows the user to control the hearing aid volume and change
programs through the user’s smartphone. Some hearing instruments allow the mobile phones to stream
music and calls directly to the hearing aids so they perform a function similar to wireless headphones –
so the user can hear music, talking books and phone calls directly into the hearing aids from a mobile
A remote control is an alternative to a mobile phone for controlling the hearing aid volume and
function. It works just like a TV remote control except it adjusts the program and volume of the hearing
A TV box is an accessory which connects the TV directly to the hearing aid. This allows the wearer to
listen to the TV at a volume that works for them, whilst everyone else can listen to the TV at their
volume. It also works when the TV is muted.

5. It’s not just about hearing aids……
Accessories for non-hearing aid users are a great Christmas present for the active person in your life.
What about wireless headphones which are designed for running, cycling and swimming. Shokz are a
great choice. Shokz uses patented bone conduction technology to transmit sound. Vibrations go through
your cheekbones and deliver sound directly to your ear, bypassing the eardrum. These are unique as
they keep your ears open to the world and allow you to enjoy high-quality sound whilst maintaining
your situational awareness. They come in different colours with different functionality but most
importantly they are approved by UK Athletics for use in official races.
For the live performance fans, how about custom ear plugs which allow the great sounds in – but at a
comfortable level to ensure hearing is protected without ruining the fun.
How about Shooting Plugs? Again, the technology in these clever ear plugs blocks out the sound of the
gun/rifle but allows other noises in as normal. If you have a friend who already has Shooting Plugs then
perhaps new batteries? Did you also know that your ear canals continue to grow, so if your shooting
plugs are more than 3 years old it may be time for a new set that fits better in your ears.
6. Wax lyrical
If you know someone for whom wax build-up is the cause of their hearing issues or ear irritation, then you could treat them to regular wax removal appointments to help keep their hearing in tip-top condition. We’ve had clients treat their loved ones to a wax removal appointment for £80, so they can experience the difference! We have also had people buy friends and family our Premier Plan, which is a monthly or annual subscription service that allows a client access to ongoing wax removal services as required.
Membership to the Premier Plan is just £20 per month or £240 a year. There is a minimum term of 12 months, but if your loved one needs more than three earwax removal appointments per year, then this is a great value plan and an excellent gift.
We are more than happy to discuss any gift ideas with you to see how best we can help. We are also very good at confidentiality, so your gift ideas are safe with us!
